Jane Ryder returns to peoria
Jane Ryder’s brightly colored scenes and boldly complex ecosystems stand out against the crisp white walls and stark black floor of the industrial shipping container. It’s easy to get lost inside of her layered landscapes, which form a winding trail that leads the viewer from one precarious scene to the next. Ryder creates a world that is at once wildly inviting and teeming with untold danger- the fever dream of a fairytale archaeologist. Yet the creatures she captures are hardly fantastical beasts, but merely those native to Ryder’s beloved Midwest. After moving past the menacing hues, there is something strangely familiar about the view.
